Why we built it
The problem is not finding a cleaner
Search for rug cleaning in New York and you will find plenty of companies. What you will not easily find is what the job should cost, what the price includes, or why one quote is half the size of another.
That gap is where most bad experiences start: a low phone quote, a fee added on arrival, a rug that is late, and nothing in writing. None of it requires bad intent. It just requires two people describing different jobs with the same words.
RugRate publishes the ranges, the process and the questions, so both sides are describing the same job before any money or any rug changes hands.

Publish real price ranges
Typical New York ranges are on the site before anyone quotes, so a fair price is recognisable and a growing one is not.
Make quotes comparable
The same scope, described the same way, sent to every company. That single habit prevents most disputes.
Never invent trust
No fabricated reviews, ratings, counts or badges. If something is not verified yet, the page says so.
Separate opinion from evidence
Star ratings come from customers. The RugRate Score measures things a star rating misses, and no one can buy either.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not clean rugs or carpet ourselves
- We do not sell ranking positions or "featured" placement as if it were a ranking
- We do not publish complaints about a company without checking them and offering a right of reply

Does RugRate clean rugs?
No. RugRate is a comparison and information site. The cleaning is done by independent New York companies, and your contract is with them.
How will RugRate make money?
From business services such as listings and advertising, paid by companies. Customers never pay, and paid placement is always labelled and never presented as a ranking or a score.
Where do the prices come from?
From how NYC companies actually price this work: per square foot for area rugs, per room or per square foot for carpet, with separate charges for stairs, access and add-ons. Every page uses the same reference figures.
Is RugRate live yet?
The guides, prices and tools are live. Company listings, reviews and scores open borough by borough as companies are verified, and nothing is invented in the meantime.
