Review Guidelines

Reviews are only worth reading if they come from real customers describing real jobs. These are the rules that keep them that way.

  • Personal detailsStaff names, home addresses, phone numbers or anything identifying a private person.
  • MarketingPromotional copy, links, discount codes or contact details for another business.
  • Abuse and accusationsThreats, slurs, and criminal accusations that belong with the police, not a review.

How Reviews Are Handled

  1. Reviews are checked against these guidelines before publication.
  2. Companies can respond publicly to any review of their work.
  3. Anyone can report a review that breaks the guidelines.
  4. Reviews that break the guidelines are removed, and the reviewer is told why.
  5. A company cannot have an honest review removed because it is negative.

Serious problems such as a lost, damaged or undelivered rug belong on Scam Watch, where reports go through a verification and right-of-reply process.

Guidelines — FAQs

Can I review a company that refused to quote?

Yes, if you describe that experience honestly: what you asked for and what happened. Be clear that no work was carried out.

What if a company offers me a discount for a good review?

Do not accept it, and tell us. Incentivised reviews break these guidelines and are removed, because they make every other review less trustworthy.

How do I report a review?

Use the report link on the review once reviews are live. For serious problems such as a lost or damaged rug, use Scam Watch instead.
