Is RugRate free?
Yes, for customers. Companies pay for business services; you never pay to use the site.
Does RugRate clean rugs?
No. Independent NYC companies do the work, and you book directly with them.
Can I book through RugRate?
Not yet. You contact the companies you choose and arrange the job with them.
Why are there no listings yet?
Companies are added and verified borough by borough. Nothing is invented in the meantime.

Help — FAQs

How do I get quotes?

Use the quote builder to describe the job once, then send the same scope to two or three companies. Ask each for the all-in price in writing.

How much should my job cost?

Carpet is typically $1–$4 per square foot or $50–$150 per room, with stairs at $2–$5 per step or $30–$80 per flight. Area rugs run $3–$10 per square foot depending on fiber and borough, and pickup minimums are typically $150–$250.

The company quoted one price and charged another. What now?

Ask for the difference itemised in writing. If it is not resolved, write a dated report, keep your paperwork, and take an unresolved consumer complaint to New York City’s Department of Consumer and Worker Protection, reachable through 311.

How do I remove or edit my review?

Reviews open with listings. Once they are live, you will be able to edit or withdraw your own review from your account, and companies can respond but cannot delete it.

Do you have a phone number?

Yes, on the contact page, along with the fastest route for each type of question.
