Ask Costikyan Before You Book
The first questions here come from what this company publishes — and from what it does not.
- Where is the plant, and how many days will my rug be there?Costikyan washes rugs at a facility, so the rug leaves your home. Five to fourteen days door to door is normal in New York.
- Is there a pickup minimum, and what does delivery cost below it?Pickup minimums of $150–$250 are common across the five boroughs, and they catch small rugs.
- How long will the rug take to dry, and what if it needs a plant wash?Costikyan cleans in the home, which means drying in the home — 6–12 hours to the touch, up to 24 to dry thoroughly.
- Will repairs be quoted separately, after inspection?Costikyan lists rug repair. Reweaving, fringe and edge work are quoted on sight, so they should not be folded into a cleaning price.
- Does my address carry a travel or minimum charge?Costikyan covers all five boroughs, which usually means some addresses carry a trip charge even at the same rate per square foot.
- Can you share recent references for a rug like mine?Only Google rates Costikyan, so there is one source of evidence rather than several.
- Is that a firm price from Costikyan, or an estimate?A number that can move after collection is not a quote. Get the scope and the price in writing before the rug goes.
- Can you issue a certificate of insurance for my building? Most New York buildings will not let a cleaner through the door without one, and arranging it late costs days.
